New students arrived on campus last Wednesday, bringing with them their hopes and dreams for the future, as well as parents' cars piled high with clothes, computers, and other dorm-life necessities.
Several athletic teams that had arrived a week early for practice were ready to help freshmen and transfer students unload vehicles and set up their rooms. An evening picnic meal at the Larsen Commons and a devotional in the Prayer Chapel welcomed the students and their families to campus.

It was a busy orientation schedule Thursday through Saturday including academic advising, campus tours, and get-to-know-you sessions with Student Association, club reps, and YC Campus Ministries.
As returning students made their way back to campus on Saturday, freshmen were busy with service projects. Orientation groups spent the day painting three houses in town. As a last hurrah for summer, students enjoyed a campus wide block party, complete with inflatables and games, on Sunday evening.
Opening Chapel was held on Monday, August 26, where President Steve Eckman welcomed back students and pronounced the 124 academic year at York College officially open. Eckman told the student body that he expects 2013-14 to be a banner year for YC.
Monday evening saw the first soccer game of the season, with the men's team facing off against Grace University at Levitt Stadium. The home team proved victorious, as they pulled out a 5-1 win.
On Tuesday night, the community will give their welcome with a Community Fair, including freebies and a picnic dinner on the Court House lawn. Students will be able to meet business people and see what services and products are available to them in town.
