Ryan Davis has been named the new head coach for the women's soccer program. Davis is no stranger to York College as he played for the men's program in 2002 and 2003. Since graduating from York with a degree in history education, he has been teaching and coaching in Dallas, Texas. He is currently at Grapevine High School and is the head girls soccer coach. He took over a losing program in 2007 and since then the team has gone 102-34-19. The team has been district champions five times and he has been named district coach of the year three times.
Along with being a high school coach and geography teacher Ryan is also the director of coaching for the Dallas Sting West Division. His duties include player selection through recruiting and tryouts, running daily training sessions and summer camp programs, maintaining team budgets, player evaluations, and coordinating academy soccer school, among many other things. Texas Sting is the oldest all female club in the country and is traditionally ranked #1 nationally in girls soccer.
"Coach Davis' experience and knowledge makes him a great fit for the head coaching position. He has led a quality program and built it from the ground up in a very competitive league. Davis has dealt with many players and parents preparing them for the college recruiting process. Along with being very experienced and accomplished, he has a heart for our mission and what we're trying to do spiritually with our student-body. He is capable of sharing his faith daily and will be a great example to our whole department. He and his wife will be a great addition to the community," said Director of Athletics Jared Stark.
"I am truly excited to begin a new journey with YC women's soccer!" says Davis. "I am looking forward to creating new goals, expectations, and experiences with the team."
