The first cohort of the Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction program at York College Online started in January with 11 students enrolled.
New sections for this program will begin every six weeks. The next section begins March 10 and is enrolling now.
Menke and Jo Kite, associate dean of graduate studies, stress that the program is not just for traditional classroom educators, but also for corporate executives and those in human resource, military and health care personnel trainers, and more.
“The courses are scenario based, so each course will be applicable whether a person is a school teacher or works in another industry. Anyone who is responsible for training groups of people will benefit from this program,” says Kite.
Tuition for this fully accredited 36-hour program is a highly competitive $250 per credit hour. The capstone for the program is a scenario-based thesis or project designed to directly apply to each student’s work situation.
Students will be required to spend one weekend on campus for a community building seminar for the Social Justice class. This class will concentrate on how to accommodate people of varying cultures, ethnic backgrounds, abilities, etc. The first weekend seminar is scheduled for June 21-23.
