Panther baseball sees
change in leadership
York College announced today that Associate Head Coach and
Head JV Coach Brian Walth ’03 will assume the position of head coach for the
Panther baseball program for the fall semester.
Walth has served as part of the baseball program coaching
staff for the past 12 years. He will be taking over the position from Nick
Harlan will be moving to the University of Central Arkansas,
a Division I program, to assume an associate head coaching position.
“We are obviously sorry to see Coach Harlan go. He has been
a fantastic leader for our program,” says Jared Stark, athletic director. “However,
we are very pleased that Coach Walth will step up to the head coaching
position. He is very capable and we expect that he will continue the success
that Coach Harlan has brought to the program.”
"I look forward to continuing the legacy that has been built at York College," says Coach Walth. "It will be a challenge, but a challenge we can achieve. The core values that have made us successful will stay the same, so I expect our results to be the same."
Walth began his collegiate career at
West Hills College in California where he played second base. During his time
at West Hills he was a Pre-Season All-American and was selected all-conference,
leading his team in almost every offensive category.
Coach Walth continued his baseball career at York College where he played
outfield and led off for the Panthers. He led the team in batting average
(.429), runs scored (78), and total hits (82). He was selected first team
all-conference his junior and senior year.
Coach Walth holds a bachelors degree in education from York College and is
currently pursuing his masters degree in sports management and administration.
Walth and his wife Jaclyn (Ferguson ’02) reside in York with their two
daughters, Sadie and Stella.
The Panthers finished their last season
