York College offers a bachelor’s degree in secondary education.
Students who graduate from York College with a degree in secondary education program are certified to teach in 7th through 12th grade classrooms.
Students can increase their skills and workplace marketability by adding up to two areas of endorsement with this degree:
The faculty focuses on diversity issues and experiential learning throughout the secondary education program. A point of differentiation for this program is a special travel course offered on teaching the Holocaust, which includes a trip to Washington, D.C. and New York City.
Graduates of the secondary education program are in especially high demand in the special education arena. There is a great need for certified teachers for students with mild disabilities in K-12 classrooms across Nebraska and the United States.
Prior to student teaching, secondary education majors complete more than 100 hours of field experience, observing local high school classrooms. York College works closely with area schools to offer our students the best real-world experience possible.
