Steven W. Eckman, a 1971 YC graduate, serves as the 20th president of York College. President Eckman is well-versed in higher education and development and has a variety of experience in Christian colleges and universities. Prior to coming to York, he served as executive vice president at Ohio Valley University located near Parkersburg, West Virginia. Before that he was senior vice president of advancement, overseeing outreach functions of the college, including community, church and corporate relations, as well as fundraising and development.

Eckman started his career as director of admissions and financial aid at York College in the 1970s. He later served in a variety of roles with Lubbock Christian University in Lubbock, Texas.  His positions at LCU included director of admissions, director of financial aid, dean of students, director of institutional effectiveness and planning, and associate professor of Bible. Eckman has also served as senior grant administrator for the J.F. Maddox Foundation. He is presently completing work toward a Doctor of Ministry and holds a Master of Divinity degree and a Master of Biblical Studies degree from Abilene Christian University. He has also completed additional coursework in higher education administration from Texas Tech University.

Steve and his wife LaRee (Scroggin), York College class of 1971, have two grown sons: Jarred and Jeremy.

York College continues to partner with families to make a life-changing, Christian education an affordable option. For the 2009-10 school year, price increases for room, board, and fees are being kept to a minimum. Need-based scholarships and other financial aid options are available.
