Presidential Scholarship


Scholarship Information

In 2006, York College instituted the Presidential Scholarship to recognize the merits of one incoming Freshman each year.  The York College Presidential Scholarship is the school's most prestigious award, recognizing academic achievement, as well as high moral character.  The recipient of this scholarship will represent the very best of York College--being selected is a great honor.  This award is more than financial aid; it's about being selected from among your peers to uphold the ideals of York College, and to be a representative of York College to the community and the world.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Presidential Scholarship, the applicant must be accepted to York College by February 17, 2012 and have an ACT composite score of 30 or higher (SAT scores will be converted to an ACT composite score). 

To Apply

  • Submit a resume that includes honors and awards received as well as co-curricular, school, and community service activities.
  • Complete and submit each essay as directed below.
  • Submit a letter of recommendation from an educator.
  • Submit a letter of recommendation from a minister.
  • Submit a letter of recommendation from a personal reference.

All of the above information is to be submitted together to the York College Admissions Office and must be postmarked no later than March 10, 2012.  Finalists will be invited to campus to interview with the scholarship selection committee.  Invitations will be sent by March 17, 2012.

Essay Topics

Please type your answers to both essay topics.  Limit your responses to two double-spaced pages per topic.

Essay topic #1-  Tell us of your academic and career goals, as well as how you anticipate your experience at York College will impact your life in the future.

Essay topic #2-  Tell us of your spiritual journey and the significance of your personal relationship with God.

 

*All scholarship interviews will occur on Monday, March 19, 2012.
