Interview with Coach Madole
Basketball Coach HiredMatt Madole named women's head basketball coach
Most recently, Matt has been teaching and coaching in Ardmore, Oklahoma, where he has coached everything from wrestling to tennis, but his main sport and first love has always been on the hardwood. “Matt is an exceptional communicator and will expect discipline from his players in all facets of life,” said Jared Stark, YC athletic director. “The first thing you’ll notice about Matt is that he exudes the joy of the Lord, and it comes through in his confident and engaging personality.” Along with his coaching experience Matt has proven to be an exceptional teacher and was awarded the Ardmore Teacher of the Year award in 2011. In his own words, “Coaching is much more than winning games. As a coach I am responsible for developing their body, mind and heart. I coach because I want to impact lives. The greatest attribute I can bring to YC is my faith; above everything, my love for Jesus Christ is the most important.” Matt defines his decision to accept the women’s basketball coach as a decision to come home. Both he and Traci have a love for York College that originated in their days as students. They met each other on campus and were married while taking classes, and they have continued to bring high school students back to campus for Soul Quest each summer. Along with his duties as a teacher and coach he has served as a youth minister on the side for his home church, the Maxwell Avenue Church of Christ.
