Choir Selected for FestivalConcert Choir to Perform at Lincoln Lied Center
For many students, it's the opportunity of a lifetime. To attend a concert at the Lied Center is a treat in itself and usually well worth the price of admission. People paying to hear you as you take center stage and sing with a full orchestra of voices is that much sweeter.
Dr. Clark Roush will be showcasing the York College Concert Choir this weekend during a two-in-one event sponsored by the Nebraska Choral Directors Association. The NCDA will be hosting the Collegiate Choral Festival in conjunction with Sing Around Nebraska Honor Choir at the Lied in Lincoln on Saturday, November 15 at 7:00 p.m.
In an interview with The Panther Press Roush said, "I am extremely excited and honored to have the Concert Choir appear at one of the two finest performing arts venues in the state of Nebraska. Singing for that many people in such a wonderful acoustic and performance environment will truly be a highlight.”
The YC Concert Choir was invited by the NCDA earlier this year to participate in the festival. Along with choirs from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Nebraska Wesleyan University, they will perform their own selections before joining on stage 150 fifth and sixth graders who make up the honor choir. Under the direction of Dr. Angela Broeker, the combined choirs will perform the grand finale to close out the concert.
“The exposure that York College, the Concert Choir, and the music department will receive because of this is tremendous, and we are honored to represent the college and the choral arts at this important Nebraska Choral Directors Association event," said Roush.
The general admission ticket price is $12 and may be purchased directly from the Lied Center, located at the corner of 12th and R Streets.
