Mr. & Ms. York CollegeAnderson and Hastings receive honors
York College held their annual All-College Banquet Thursday night at the Stone Creek Event Center in McCool Junction and presented the awards of Mr. and Ms. York College. YC Faculty make the selection for this award using leadership, involvement, academic performance and personality as the criteria.
Emily Hastings, senior Middle Grades Education major from Grand Island, Nebraska, and Jesse Anderson, senior Biblical Studies – Youth Ministry major from Cedaredge, Colorado, were honored with YC's highest award.
Hastings is the Executive Secretary for SA, Vice President of Student Education Association, and has served as the Spiritual Life Director for Delta Chi Alpha social club. She played varsity volleyball and golf at YC and is a member of Alpha Chi National Honor Society. Anderson is the Spiritual Life Director for Sigma Tau social club and serves as a member of the York Campus Ministries. He was a four-year varsity basketball player and was awarded the Outstanding Greek Student. He was also chosen the 2007 Homecoming King. Both Hastings and Anderson have been involved with Let’s Start Talking summer missions.
Also awarded during the evening were Terry Fischer – Teacher of the Year, Kimball Matkins – Staff Member of the Year, Academic Excellence Award – Theta Psi, Big Heart Award – Sigma Tau, Club Service Award – Beta Beta Sigma, Women's All Sports Award – Beta, Men's All Sports Award – Kyodai.
