Community FairYC students receive a nice community welcomeby Steve MoseleyEditor, York News-Times
A community welcome from York businesses and the community at large came off without a hitch Tuesday evening. Each year returning and new York College students are invited to the north end of the courthouse square for a meal on the lawn under the trees and to learn about York ... from where to find the goods and services they need to job prospect leads. Todd Kirshenbaum, executive director of the York Area Chamber of Commerce, said it was a productive evening. Kirshenbaum and his crew handed out all 200 of the welcome packets they put together for the event ... personally welcoming each student while they were at it. Aladdin Food Management Services, the college’s new food service vendor, fed one and all under supervision of Mitch Novak, director of dining services for York College. Novak and his crew served up barbecued pork, barbecued beef, plain beef and tasty ribs. Classes began Monday at the college, which is enjoying its highest enrollment in three years. |
