Brewster Takes Title
Freshman wins conference for chance at nationals
Kameryn Brewster, a freshman student-athlete on the York College Cross Country team will be running at the NAIA Cross Country Nationals in Portland, Ore. Kameryn qualified for Nationals by winning the MCAC conference meet by 35 seconds two weeks ago in St. Louis, Mo.
"I feel that she is very well prepared for this race,” Panthers head coach Derek Kite said. “She is only a freshman, so no matter what the results, she will have an opportunity to gain much needed experience for years to come."
Kameryn is the daughter of Jeff and Lynda (Lessly) Brewster, both alumni of York College and is from Casper, Wyoming.
YC had a foundation-building season with small teams on both the men's and women's side. However, Coach Kite plans to enlarge the number of competitors on the squads and will hopefully be competing for conference titles in the near future.
"Any time you can have an individual or a team win a conference championship in an inaugural year, it's good news for the future,” he said. “I feel this is the start of something very special for York College."
