Longtime President Called HomeDr. Dale R. Larsen, YC President 1960-78
Dr. Dale R. Larsen, 92, former president of York College, went to be with his Lord in the evening hours of December 29. He passed peacefully, which is fitting for a man so dedicated to God and His service.
Dale was instrumental in reopening the college in 1956 and served as York College president from 1960-1978, the longest tenure of any president in the history of the college. After retiring as president, he continued to serve in the role of chancellor for three decades.
"He was a man of great honor and integrity. Without his contributions of time, effort and wisdom in the early years this place would not exist today," said YC president Steve Eckman. "It is his vision that we now all live out. Dale always cared deeply for this place. Those of us who serve as president have often gone to him for advice and perspective. That voice and influence will remain even though he is not present in body. Dale will be greatly missed by all of us here, but his legacy remains".
In October of this year, the Larsen Commons was dedicated to Dale and Raylene for their lifetime of service to the college.
The funeral service for Dr. Larsen was held Saturday, January 2nd at the Bay Area Church of Christ in Mango, Florida. Please remember Raylene, Zayne, Aloha and the family in your prayers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory to York College.
