YC Presidential Scholar Named
Maggie Arlt, a 2009 graduate from Columbus High School in Columbus, Nebraska, was recently named the Presidential Scholar at York College for the 2009-10 freshman class. To be eligible, high school seniors must score a 30 or higher on the ACT (a 1320 on the SAT) exam.
The full tuition scholarship is York College’s most prestigious award recognizing the academic achievement as well as high moral character of the student. Finalists were invited to campus in the spring for a presidential interview with the Executive Council as well as an interview with members of Campus Life.
In response to an essay topic, Maggie wrote, "I think that York College's strong Christian emphasis will help me to keep my life Christ-centered, so I can make a decision on my career based on God's will for my life. I know my relationship with Christ will grow enormously during my time at York College, and that alone would fulfill one of my goals and take me a step closer to the rest."Maggie is the daughter of John and Lois Arlt of Columbus. Congratulations to Maggie on this accomplishment and well-deserved recognition.
