Songfest 2011

Songfest celebrated its closing finale Saturday night during the High School Days weekend. At the completion of the show, clubs anxiously awaited with the audience to hear the judges' tally of their three-night production. Beta Beta Sigma and Alpha Chi Epsilon's Lost in Space won Best Costumes while Theta Psi and Sigma Tau's En Fuego! was awarded Best Music and Best Choreography. The President's Award was then presented by Dr. Steve Eckman for best club show overall with the award going to Beta and AXE.

The success of this year's show was attributed in large part to the talented voices of six hosts and hostesses: Alice Hackett, Jason Hernandez, Hailey Siebold, Casandra Taylor, Nathan Towell, and Carson Tuttle. Under the direction of Amy Fraser and Dr. Clark Roush, they have been perfecting their performance since the campus-wide auditions in December.

Even with the incredible performances on stage, the benefits of a production such as Songfest go to the heart of the YC experience. The camaraderie and closeness that develops as clubs prepare for the weekend is evident to audiences and is a major aspect of campus life. About one fourth of the York College student body participated in this year's Songfest production.

Congratulations to everyone who had a part in this year's Songfest 2011!
