The York College campus mourns the loss this week of one of its own. James Eric Davidson, Jr, of Oakland, California, passed away Sunday night, February 27, 2011 after suffering from a severe asthma attack. He was 26.

Eric transferred to YC in 2006 on a baseball scholarship and immediately had an impact on Coach Nick Harlan's program. During his junior and senior seasons, Davidson accumulated an impressive 45 hits.

"E. D. was a beautiful person," said Harlan. "It saddens me and the baseball family to hear about his death.  I will never forget the passion, humor, and joy he brought to all of our lives.  He was a special kid who I love dearly.  He loved this program and he loved his friends, and teammates.  I have so many wonderful memories of him.  I will never forget his smile and sense of humor.  He brought so much joy to my life and I will always be grateful God brought him to us.  My heart hurts for his family and friends and I will be praying that God will give them strength. "

Eric played a total of 87 games for the Panthers as a right and center fielder. In his senior year he was at bat 113 times and had a 0.310 average.

Davidson graduated with his bachelors degree in general studies from York College in May of 2009.

Updates will be posted as more information is available.
