Dedication of Fitness Center to be Held May 5th
York College's newest athletics facility, the Wayne and Darlene Baker Center, recently became fully operational. The Baker Center boasts 15 Magnum strength machines which gives students new options for strength exercise and circuit training. Work began last fall and move-in is now complete on this 3,000 square foot training center that will be used by most of the college's varsity sports teams. Dedication of this facility will be on Thursday, May 5, at 4:30 pm, in a ceremony honoring the service of Wayne and Darlene Baker. Dr. Baker has served as chancellor for York College since 2009, following 13 years as president. When asked about the change, YC athletic director, Jared Stark said, "This move is a huge step up for the college and for our program. The combination of proximity to our other training space, the newness of the facility and the addition of a complete set of strength and conditioning equipment will enhance our preparation in every sport. This is a great gift, not only for the school, but for every athlete who chooses to compete as a Panther." |
