See You At The Pole

Faith expressed in prayer

A tradition begun by 45 Texas high school students in 1990 continues to grow and spread. See You at the Pole, a ceremony of prayer, was carried out at York College on Wednesday as the morning's chapel program.

Campus minister Tim Lewis, speaking from beneath the college’s central flag pole, said the YC student body would be joining with some 3 million other students around the world as they prayed for their friends, schools, leaders, the nation and the world.

Student Bethany Saylor followed Lewis’s opening remarks with a performance of the National Anthem. Student Jeff Finch then led a prayer for the nation, followed by YC Associate Professor of Mathematics Mark Miller praying for the state and community. Student Eric Loper prayed a blessing on the college faculty and staff while student Carson Tuttle prayed on behalf of the students.

YC Professor of Bible Dr. Terry Seufferlein gave the ceremony’s closing blessing.
