Holiday performances for YC faculty member, professional vocalist

It’s a busy time of the year for Dr. Adrienne Dickson. In addition to the usual end of semester hustle familiar to all educators, she is also performing in two professional vocal productions.

Dickson will be the featured mezzo soprano soloist for the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra Holiday Pops Concert at the Lied Center. The theme is “Deck the Halls” and the concert will feature holiday favorites, local choirs, celebrities, and dancers performing scenes from The Nutcracker.

The concert will be Friday, December 2 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at http://www.lincolnsymphony.org/ and range in price from $4.99 to $24.99.

This past weekend, Dickson also performed with Abendchor, Lincoln’s Professional Chamber Choir. That show presented parts of Handel’s Messiah, with Dickson as an alto soloist.

A Lincoln-native, Dickson holds a DMA in vocal performance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She received her BFA in music theatre from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and her MM in opera performance from The Boston Conservatory.

At York College, she teaches private voice lessons, vocal production, and diction.

"Our voice students are abundantly fortunate to have a voice professor that not only is an incredible teacher, but is also in demand as a performer,” says Dr. Clark Roush, endowed chair of the Department of Fine and Performing Arts at York College. “The modeling, mentoring, and teaching she provides is vital to success of our performing ensembles, and the future professional lives of our music majors. Dr. Dickson is truly one of the finest teachers in the state, and we are blessed to have her on our faculty."
