YC hosts statewide conference for future educators

Educators and education majors from across the state will convene on the York College campus this weekend for the annual spring meeting of the Student Education Association of Nebraska (SEAN).

The event kicks off Friday with a dinner and keynote address from Luisa Palomo, 2012 Nebraska Teacher of the Year. Ms. Palomo is a kindergarten teacher from Omaha and a liaison for the Omaha Children’s Museum. In 2010, she received the Alice Buffett Award for Excellence in Teaching.

On Saturday, attendees will hear from speakers on a number of topics pertinent to educators, including ethnic minority affairs, bullying prevention and intervention, and political advocacy. Breakout sessions for discussion will round out the event.

SEAN exists to help college students understand the education profession, develop leadership skills, and build a professional network that will assist them in launching a successful career.
