Panther Wrestlers Finish Strong at Nationals

The wrestling season came to end the first weekend of March with the NAIA Championships in Des Moines, Iowa.  Eleven young men represented York College at nationals with a lot of class and talent.  Four of those 11 wrestlers advanced to the All-American round: Robert Eklund (149), a sophomore from Friend, Neb., Nicholas Clarke (149), a junior from Miami, Fla., Jake McCoy (174), a senior from Coos Bay, Ore., and Bradlee Carls (197), a junior from Bakersfield, Calif.

All of these wrestlers were one win away from being named All-American and fell one match short.  Brad Carls (pictured above) wrestled on an injured ankle and lost out against the #1 wrestler in the country.  The other three wrestlers fought to the end as well but came up short.

Head coach Ramon Diaz, associate head coach Greg Smith, assistant coach Jotham Andrews, and the student assistant coaches did a fantastic job preparing these student athletes for the national stage and are to be congratulated for an outstanding season.
