Student Athletes Recognized by Daktronics

York College basketball players Sara Lincoln, Livia Medeiros, and Brent Smith were recently named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes for their academic and athletic pursuits.
Lincoln is a junior from Elgin, Nebraska. Medeiros is a junior from Vitoria, Brazil. Smith is a senior from Ponca, Nebraska.
“All three of these students represent York College very well on and off the court,” says Athletic Director Jared Stark. “Last year Brent was our Male Student Athlete of the Year and is set to graduate in May. I'm very proud that these three received this honor. It speaks to their hard work as college students.”
In order to be a recipient of the Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete award, the athlete must:
- Be a junior or senior in good academic standing
- Have been in attendance at the nominating institution a minimum of one full year
- Have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.50 (on a 4.0 scale) at the time of nomination at the nominating institution
- Be certified as eligible for his or her sport.
