YC Adds New Faculty for Fall '12 Semester
Jaclyn Spivey will join the Department of Behavioral Sciences as an assistant professor of psychology and chair of the department. She holds a PhD in psychology with an emphasis in behavioral neuroscience from the University of Texas Austin. Previously, she taught at Austin Community College and Hutson-Tillotson University in Austin.
York College board member Edward J. Bailey will take on a new role when he steps into the classroom this fall to teach courses in criminal justice and business. Bailey holds a Juris Doctorate and has had a long career in the legal field. Currently he is an attorney and the director of immigration legal services for YMCA in Houston, Texas. Bailey is also a licensed attorney in Nebraska. Louise Bailey will join the education faculty. She has been an educator working with preschool, elementary, junior high and high school students for more than 20 years in a variety of classroom settings. Bailey holds a master’s degree in human development and the family from UNL, and a PhD in curriculum and instruction from Tennessee State University. Terry Kite will rejoin the YC faculty as an associate professor of physics. Kite has taught at several other colleges and universities, most recently at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. From 1975 to 1979 and 1981 to 1987, Kite taught at YC, earning the Teacher of the Year commendation in 1987.
Shannon Leinen joined the faculty in 2010 as an adjunct instructor and was recently promoted to full time status as an assistant professor of communication and forensics. In addition to the classes she will teach, she will also coach the competitive speech team. Christopher Luther has been with York College since 1998. He holds a masters degree in education from Southern Adventist University. In addition to teaching, he has also held the role of athletic director and head soccer coach at YC. He is stepping down from his roles in athletics to take on full time classroom responsibilities as an assistant professor of education. He will also serve as coordinator of faculty development and instructional technology. Christi Lones has served as an adjunct instructor of history at York College since 2008. She joins the full time faculty as an assistant professor this fall. She holds a master’s of liberal studies in history from Fort Hays State University. New Department Chairs Announced Assistant Professor of English Joshua Fullman will serve as the chair of the Department of English.
