York College launches online bookstore

Beginning in the fall 2012 semester, York College will offer students a more convenient option for purchasing textbooks, as all books will now be ordered through http://york.textbookx.com.

On the site, students will find the most current information about book requirements for their classes.

Students will have multiple options to acquire textbooks, including purchase of a hard copy (new or used), hard copy rental, or purchase of an electronic edition.

Students will also be able to buy supplies needed for specific classes via the website.

The site accepts all major credit cards, as well as school vouchers, so students are able to apply financial aid credit balances to their text books.

According to Akademos, the company managing the website, students will see a cost savings as well as greater convenience.

Ron Shields, long-time manager of the on-campus YC bookstore, says the transition comes at a great time for him personally. Shields will semi-retire in August.

The on-campus store will continue to offer York College branded items and Christian books, as well as curriculum materials for churches, says Shields.

Additionally, the online bookstore will soon offer York College branded items, similar to those offered in the on-campus store.
