If it’s the clothes that make the man, then this ruler is in serious trouble.

A foolish, spendthrift king meets a beautiful queen with a tendency to lie. It’s love at first sight, but they have obstacles to overcome before they wed: he has nothing to wear and both of their kingdoms are bankrupt. Helpful servants come to their rescue as the couple take on robbers, deceitful tailors, and their own bad decisions in this hilarious new production of The New Clothes King and the Bandit Queen, presented by the York College Traveling Children’s Theatre.

The show will tour throughout March and April at area elementary schools, libraries, and other community venues. There will also be two free performances on campus: Saturday, April 6 at 10:30 a.m., and Friday, April 12 at 7:00 p.m. No tickets or reservations are necessary to attend these shows in the Bartholomew Performing Arts Center.

The cast includes Ella Montoya, Charity Goldsmith-Ding, Lexi Martens, Chris Martens, Deidre Freitas, Olivia Nabb, Ryan Harrison, Nathan Lacina, Amalia Miller, Hannah Anderson, and Samara Hannel. The show is assistant directed by Em Hyberger, and directed by John I. Baker III. The show was written by Edith Weiss.
