McCloud Hall will be receiving all new furniture for the upcoming Fall 2025 semester.

Stephen Cooper, director of residence life & housing, will be overseeing the process. After the spring semester ends, the current furniture will be removed, the floors will be polished, and the walls will receive a fresh coat of paint. The new furniture arrives in June and will be installed after Soul Quest 2025.

McCloud Hall is the residence hall for freshmen and sophomore men. It offers individual and dual-occupancy rooms. There are communal areas, such as the main parlor and lower-level activity area, as well as a kitchen and laundry facilities. It is named in memory of Flora S. McCloud, wife of York businessman C.A. McCloud who served as YU board chair for 15 years.

“I am so grateful for this generous gift from a loyal and devoted alumni, " said Interim President Jared Stark. “The new furniture in McCloud Hall fits a major need for us in housing our underclassmen male residents. This gift fits in nicely with other gifts that have been made in recent years to improve the residence life experience of York University students. Certainly there is more that needs to be done, but this gift moves us further in a great direction. Our alumni remember living in buildings like McCloud and Thomas Hall and when one of them steps up to respond to a need, it meets a real tangible need for current YU Panthers! We hope more improvements can be made in the future.”
