York University offers the pathway to an engineering degree through a dual-degree natural science program. Students who choose this path earn a Bachelor of Science in natural science from York University in conjunction with a Bachelor of Science from an ABET-accredited engineering program at another university (i.e. partner institution).

To earn the B.S. in natural science from York University and the B.S. in engineering from a partner institution, students must complete all the requirements found in the natural science degree plan and complete the upper-division engineering coursework from one of our partner institutions.

YU’s new partnership with Oklahoma Christian University (Edmond, Oklahoma) allows students to complete the first three years of this program on the York University campus and the final two years on the campus of Oklahoma Christian University. This degree path leads to a B.S. in natural science from York University and a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Oklahoma Christian University.

YU’s current partnership with the University of North Dakota (Grand Forks, North Dakota) offers coursework through distance education, allowing students to complete both degrees from York University campus. Students will complete required labs during one summer session on the UND campus (York University does not cover room and board for the UND summer session). Eligible coursework at UND is limited to upper-division engineering department credits that are not available from York University.

University of North Dakota offers the following specializations:

  • Chemical
  • Civil
  • Electrical
  • Mechanical

Each student will receive personalized advising at York University regarding the requirements for either cooperative program and the specific engineering field being pursued. The expected time to complete a Dual Degree program is 5 years. As degrees vary from college to college, it is the responsibility of the student to check specific requirements at each college or university.

Due to the nature of the partnerships, there are additional fees connected to the engineering dual-degree program.

York University charges a $75 per credit fee for each UND course and students are required to purchase their UND textbooks.
