The York University Theatre Department will present its comedy production Myth Adventures: Five Greek Classics over the Homecoming weekend.
The play will be staged at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 17, 18, and 19, with a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. on Oct. 20. Make reservations at york.edu/boxoffice. General admission tickets are $10, and senior and student tickets are $7.
Journey into the ancient world of Greek mythology with some of the greatest characters ever to grace a stage. Do you dare to shake hands with King Midas, played by Cheyenne Kiely? Or find yourself, like poor Echo, played by Sidney Richie, in the middle of the ultimate marriage battle between the king and queen of the gods? And why can't Narcissus, played by Orren Limbric, pull himself away from that pool of water? Myth Adventures is a fresh look at classic legends!
The cast also includes CJ Arnold, Sam Cook, Addison Harrold, Alex Harwell, Drake Richtarik, and Erin Rogers.
“My time on the YU stage is one that I will never forget. It reignited a passion for theater and allowed me to do the thing I truly love doing,” said Sam Cook, a senior from Murray, Neb., who is in her final York University mainstage production. “Thank you to everyone who showed up to support me over my time on YU's stage! Your support and presence has impacted me and encouraged me in ways words cannot describe. I hope you enjoy this show!”
“I really enjoy the cast,” shared Richtarik, a sophomore from Fairbury, Neb. “I feel they really bring the show alive with their acting skills and their portrayal of the characters.”
“I enjoyed playing the character Hera the most,” said Harrold, a sophomore from Wichita, Kan. “She is a character very unlike me which made her fun to play!”
Director John Baker is in his 28th year at York University. Myth Adventures is his 81st show directed on the YU stage. Jude Gray is the assistant director.
The show will be held at the Bartholomew Performing Arts Center located at 1098 E 10th St. on the York University campus.
