Her favorite hymn is "Sing and Be Happy" because life will always bring reasons to
lament but with God there can always be a reason to sing and be happy today.Dr. Moyers is an Assistant Professor of Psychology for YU where she will be instructing
various courses for the Psycology Department. While teaching introductory courses,
she is passionate about making psychology come alive and feel relevant for all of
her students. In her advanced courses she prioritizes helping her studens pursue their
specific interests int eh field and pushing them to think critically to make positive
impacts in the world.
Her dissertation and Ph.D. focus was on finding trauma healing options for Rwandans
recovering from the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi. In it she researched ways to
promote communal and generational healing in a way tha can work with the Rwandan culture
and context.
Dr. Moyers has been an educator in various roles for over a decade working with many
different ages, cultures, and learning abilities. She enjoys living and working abroad,
before YU she lived in Kigali, Rwanda for four years and Mexico City, Mexico for three
years. Serving York University since 2026.
