Katy Kurz is an assistant professor of education and has spent the better part of
the last 32 years working in education, specifically in the public school setting.
Katy has extensive experience in the planning and implementation of the School Improvement
Process and the Improving Learning for Children with Disabilities Process. She is
a a member of various organizations including but not limited to the Nebraska Council
of Special Education Supervisors, Nebraska Council of School Administrators, STARS
Advisory Committee to the Commissioner (Nebraska Department of Education) and Council
of Exceptional Learners. She also mentors for the NCSA’s Emerging Administrators Program.

The School Improvement Process
Bible Ministry Co-Leader, Hall County Department of Corrections: Co-led faith-based
ministry sessions for incarcerated individuals, fostering personal growth, reflection,
and positive decision-making. Facilitated group discussions and Bible studies in a
correctional setting, promoting respectful dialogue and accountability. Collaborated
with ministry leaders and correctional staff to ensure program compliance and safety
protocols. Provided mentorship, encouragement, and spiritual support to participants.
Assisted in planning and organizing lesson materials and weekly sessions.
