Leanna Hawley directs the Academic Resource Center at Levitt at York University. She
trains peer tutors, teaches developmental classes, conducts writing labs, and manages
academic coaching and the disability office, but her main focus is the writing center
where she works one-one-one with students guiding them through the writing process
and helping them discover their writing and research voice.
Leanna worked for several years teaching language arts and literature in grades 7-12
before transitioning to the 7-12 library. After moving to Nebraska, she taught in
the Education department at York before joining the team composed to transform the
Levitt Library into the Academic Resource Center at Levitt where she continues to
work on building services to support teaching and learning at York University.
Leanna works with her husband in ministry at the East Hill Church of Christ teaching
ladies’ classes and supporting missions. Her favorite verses are from Psalms which
she often quotes and sings.
Serving York University since 2017.
