The York University Celebration Singers are excited to present their annual Christmas production Cocoa and Carols, December 7-10. Performances are scheduled Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm and a Sunday matinee at 2 pm.
This year’s show, “Twas the Night Before Christmas,” will feature a wide variety of
music and a special guest reading the classic story. Cocoa and Carols has proven year after year to be a campus and community favorite
and offers a little something for everyone. The show will feature talented students
performing a variety of solo and ensemble numbers, including beloved Christmas favorites.
Lester Miller, associate professor of music, is in his first year with York University
as the director of Celebration Singers. Formerly the director of choral activities
at Centennial High School in Ankeny, Iowa, Miller oversaw the growth of the largest
and most successful choir programs in the country with over 420 participants in 10
curricular and co-curricular ensembles. Miller's choirs won numerous awards in regional
and national competitions.
“This year’s Cocoa and Carols invites you to a Christmas Eve party hosted by Celebration Singers. Join us for music, cookies, cocoa, a reading of Twas the Night Before Christmas, and a carol sing-a-long. We hope to see you there”, said Miller.
Performances for the festive show will be held in the Bartholomew Performing Arts Center (1026 E 10th St.) on the York University campus. Admission is $8. Reserve Tickets
Miller encourages attendees to reserve tickets early, as this show has sold out for the past several years. Seating begins 30 minutes prior to the performance. Patrons will be seated at tables during the performance and will enjoy complimentary cocoa and cookies.
