York University is honored to announce that Jim Ulrich, Chief Executive Officer of York General Hospital, will be speaking at the 2025 Winter Commencement. “He emulates faithful leadership for his team as they provide high-quality healthcare services for our community,” President Westbrook said. “It is an honor to welcome back to campus Mr. Ulrich.”
Ulrich, a Nebraska native with a commitment to rural areas, has been with York General
since 2016. He has over 35 years of experience in healthcare, working previously at
Seim Johnson, Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital, and Community Hospital in McCook, Neb.
A graduate of Wayne State College and Bellevue University, Ulrich is a Fellow of both
the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and the American College of
Healthcare Executives (ACHE).
Ulrich’s presence in York also goes beyond his work—his passion is not limited to healthcare, as he is also committed to creating strong organizational cultures through leadership and strategic planning. His impact on the community can be seen through his service on multiple boards, such as the Nebraska Hospital Association, Heartland Health Alliance, and York County Development Corporation.
Ulrich and his wife Jamie have three adult children: Sydney (31), Nathan (27), and Tucker (24). In March of 2021, they adopted Brianna (15), Paura (11), and Za’Miah (9). In 2022 and again in 2025, they became grandparents with the birth of Sydney and husband Elliott’s sons Kendrix and Holden. Ulrich enjoys spending time with his family and friends, cheering on Husker Sports, working on their country acreage, and golfing whenever he can.
